Latest Ofsted Report

Ofsted Good School

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am pleased to share with you the report from Ofsted regarding our inspection in July.

Watlington Community Primary School continues to be a good school.

We are extremely proud of this positive outcome which is a testament to the care and commitment of our staff, the support of our parents and carers, and of course, a celebration of our wonderful children.

I hope you will see reflected in the report the journey and rapid improvement the school has undergone in order to say the school is good. There are still things that, we want to work on, these are described in the letter and are areas both the inspector and SLT agreed upon. Our main areas for improvement this year will be using our new MIS for assessment of all subjects and to continue to improve the quality, stamina and presentation of children’s writing.

You will see on page four during this inspection only Maths, RE and early reading were explored as subjects, where the phrase ‘some foundation subjects’ is used, this is drawn from an inspection of just one subject. We have worked hard to improve the curriculum and have high aspirations for our pupils. We have already seen the improvement in pupils’ achievement. In schools, curriculum is always developing and we continue to work on improving our curriculum and assessment across all subject areas.

There are so many positives highlighted in the report, please do take some time to read it.

I want to thank all the parents who were so very supportive and positive during the inspection and for your collaboration with the school. I also wanted to thank everyone who completed Ofsted’s Parent View survey. This is such valuable feedback, and we read every comment to continue to make the school the best that it can be for your children.

I would also like to thank all the staff and governors for their hard work and support not only during inspection but over the last two years and the support they have given me to drive improvement in the school.
